Le Grand Jockey was first exhibited at the Salon in Paris in 1879 as "Un Jockey." This image of a victorious jockey performing a congratulatory pat to his horse's neck is Bonheur's most well-known work.

Le Grand Jockey was cast in four different sizes. It is rare to find examples of this large 38"(95cm) size.
